Rock ‘n Roller Disco

Imagine a roller-disco where exotic blue-skinned clubbers skate-danced to the sounds of The Flying Lizards and  The Buggles. Where B.A. Robertson‘s “Bang Bang” rubbed shoulders with Sparks’ “Beat The Clock”, where “Who Were You With In The Moonlight” by Dollar was followed by The Ruts“Babylon Is Burning”, where Public Image Ltd‘s “Death Disco” (aka “Swan Lake“) led into Racey‘s “Lay Your Love On Me”.

Of course, this is a world cynically dreamt-up by Ronco’s marketing department to cash-in on the roller boot craze of ’79, but 30 years later it feels like some forgotten utopian ideal. Where did we go wrong?
