Stargard – What You Waitin’ For (U.S. Discomix)

DSC03173

Don’t know much about this late-seventies all-girl trio, but I do know this is an absolutely fab slice of funky disco, full of fat moogs, dense layers of cowbell-heavy percussion and what sounds like someone flapping a sheet of hardboard to get that ‘wop’ sound. This is a true ‘discomix’ in the oldskool sense…the main track fades out and then an extended instrumental kicks in, which is when things get really crazy with the Hammond, auto-wah guitar, vocoders and sci-fi synth-blips. Should’ve been a big hit, this one!

  1. I have a couple of their 12 inches lying around here – including this one – also have the LP this stuff is off – which as it was car-boot material will get a subsequent post – nice slamming disco indeed !!
