Paul McCartney and the Frog Chorus – “We All Stand Together” (1984) 7″ single

Usually cited by haters as the moment Paul went beyond the pale, the Frog Chorus tune is actually fine. There’s no shame in it.

Buying the 7″ at Smeeth bootfair when you’ve already got the picture disc is beyond the pale and a bit shameful. We’ve all got our crosses.

This and the previous two posts are the result of today’s carried-out threat to get to bootfairs by 7am. Time will tell if I can keep up the pace.

  1. if all you can find by getting up that early is the frog chorus, then you’re better off getting your beauty sleep ha ha…

  2. Ouch!

  3. that’s fucked up, duuuuude….

  4. Whatever one’s feelings about the merits of this single, it sounds less dated than most all pop singles from the time, including Paul’s own.

  5. hey guys i was only attempting to make jest in a light-hearted manner!

i wasn’t so much making a comment on the musical quality or otherwise of “frog chorus” (i remember once walking home with my girlfriend after a very drunken night out when we were both singing it very loudly and probably waking up the neighbours ha ha) as to its availability – that’s the kind of thing you could easily pick up if you turned up at the end of a boot when the stall holders are packing up…

  6. Absolutely no offence taken wilber! I thought it was a good “zing” or as my son said, “You got owned, but in a clever way.” And I assumed Eko was referring to my buying the regular 7″ when I already had the PD.

    No worries.
