The B-52’s (ILPS 9580)(1979)

Kooky late 70s New Wave distillation of 50s trash aesthetic has dated not one jot in over 30 years thanks to Island boss Chris Blackwell’s no-nonsense production.

Lennon rated it, recognising his brutal guitar style, the wife’s banshee wail and a kindred embrace of surreality for the fun of it.

A great party rock record.
