Herbie Hancock – Rockit (TA 3577) (1983)

RoggitThis still sounds great. Surely one of the most influential singles of all time, it certainly blew my mind when it came out. Glad to get the S-T-R-E-T-C-H-E-D version on 12″.

  1. this never blew my mind – in fact i hated it… and still do. it annoyed me intensely at the time that a keyboardist of herbie’s stature and ability was picking out a twee melody that could be played by a 5-year old (or someone like gary numan) – when he appeared on “the tube” playing it live, i was hoping he’d actually mess it up!

  2. I was young (ignorant) enough not to worried that Herbie was slumming it; I just dug it, still do.
